Now that the World Cup is over everything can get back to normal !!! Summer is here in full swing and finally we are getting some great weather … the tropical storms have left us for awhile … We can get back out to see what fish are biting now that all boats are back in the water ….

Tropical Storm “ALEX” dampens activites in Playa del Carmen …

Tropical Storm ALEX has had its effects on tourist activities in the region. For the past week it slowly moved across the Yucatan Peninsula dropping lots of rain in its path and is now in the Gulf of Mexico and gaining strengh as it moves across the water in a north westerly direction. The local port here has been closed to all water based activities due to strong and gusty winds for the past few days. The forecast is for the wind to die down later this week and allow things to get back to normal. This is our first storm activity for the current hurricane season.

Swedish Vikings visit family and land a Dorado in Playa del Carmen …

These modern day Vikings from Sweden …. Leif, his lovely wife Helen and daughter Malin came to Playa del Carmen to visit Leif’s sister Ina who now lives here. They came with good friends Sven and his wife Bibbi. Ina has been showing them around local places of interest in the area. A couple of days ago they all went Horse Riding in the Jungle with our friend Lisa from Rancho Baaxal.  Yesterday they went and did some Deep Sea Fishing and Snorkeling with Captain Angel from Caribbean Fishing Charter Adventures in the beautiful Caribbean Sea. A change of scenery from ice and snow. No  ice fishing here !!! They left early in the morning amidst a spectacular sunrise. The sea was very calm and the fish were not around … so they went and snorkeled one of the nearby reefs and as they were early, getting there before more people activity, they were fortunate to see and swim with a good number of sea turtles. They were amazed at how friendly these turtles were. A very enjoyable experience had by all !!! Then they decided to try some more fishing and just as they were heading to come back, Leif hooked into a lovely Dorado and he said “that will be lunch/supper”. The Dorado was prepared by the friendly staff at the Blue Parrot. It was delicious as I was lucky enough to have some as well.

Texan Couple land a White Marlin … Playa del Carmen.

Bo and Kristy, a young couple from Texas, USA visit Playa del Carmen on a regular basis. They come here to relax and unwind and get away from the stresses of work and the hustle and bustle of city life. Their escape to paradise. They love to fish and explore this part of the Caribbean and on their last trip a couple of weeks ago they landed a nice White Marlin and a Dorado on Jubileo from Caribbean Fishing Charter Adventures. The White Marlin was released back into the sea for another day and the Dorado made for a delicious lunch ….

Happy Honeymooners in Playa del Carmen…

Eric and Jessica, a nice young couple from the corn country in Illinois, USA had been here in Playa del Carmen Mexico before. They fell in love with diving the beautiful coral reefs of this region. They liked it so much and were looked after by our friends at Pluto Dive and decided it was the perfect place to spend their honeymoon and explore some more !!! Apart from the diving, Eric and Jessica decided they would like to try some deep sea fishing. Something they had never done before and asked Alberto from Pluto Dive if he could recommend someone. Alberto rang us at Caribbean Fishing Charter Adventures and Eric and Jessica went out with Captain Elias on Adita. They had a wonderful time and enjoyed the experience and caught a barracuda.

Another 3 guys from Iowa went fishing …

When Chuck from Iowa saw somebody arriving with the fish they had just caught he convinced his brothers in law, Dave & Dan, to go fishing the next day. Wanting to have the same success as fellow countrymen from Iowa had acheived earlier the day before. But they just went fishing and not catching …. but they had a good time boating across a very calm Caribbean which resembled a lake more than a sea. Not a breath of wind out there this day…

Scott came back with Re-Inforcements …

Here is the tale of Scott from Oregon, USA, who was here some 18 months ago with Tracy and had an experience he would like to share on how he met Captain Angel and why he came back with re-inforcements …
” I thought I would relay my story why I’m so cautious. Last time I was in Playa we booked a prepaid fishing trip. When we got to the designated meeting spot, there was no boat. After waiting an hour, one of the nearby travel agent guys helped us out by doing some arguing, getting our money back, and then got Angel to take us out fishing for the same money. That was a big mistake for them, because now you have our business that is more than just one day.”
The guys had a great time and relaxed away from the daily stresses of life back home … I think it is called therapy ???
